Customize Recurring Payment Receipts

In this article, we'll go over how to customize receipts for your recurring donors. You can customize the receipt for their initial transaction and the subsequent recurring payments in the Flipcause Dashboard.


CUSTOMIZE THE RECEIPT FOR THE INITIAL TRANSACTION

Your supporter will receive two emails initially when they sign up as a recurring donor. They'll receive a recurring donation setup confirmation. This email is not the actual receipt—it's a standard email notifying the supporter that they've set up a recurring donation for the campaign.

Secondly, they'll receive the receipt for their initial transaction. You can customize this in the Transaction Receipt Settings of the Campaign Editor. Here's how:

  1. Go to Campaigns > Edit This Campaign (choose a campaign) > Receipt Settings > Transaction Receipt Settings.
  2. From here, edit any fields you'd like to customize: sender email, email subject line, custom messages, and the tax-deductible disclaimer.
  3. Click Save to keep the changes.
  4. Click Send a Test Receipt on the Transaction Receipt Settings tab to check how it looks.


Note: These receipt settings apply only to the initial transaction. See the next section to customize the receipt for succeeding recurring payments. 


CUSTOMIZE THE RECEIPT FOR SUCCEEDING RECURRING PAYMENTS

After the initial transaction, the supporter will receive a receipt each time a recurring payment has been made. To customize these, edit the fields in the Recurring Payment Receipt Settings. Here's how:
 
  1. Go to Campaigns > Edit This Campaign (choose a campaign) > Receipt Settings > Recurring Payment Receipt Settings.
  2. From here, edit any fields you'd like to customize: sender email, email subject line, custom messages, and the tax-deductible disclaimer.
  3. Click Save to keep the changes.
  4. Click Send a Test Receipt on the Transaction Receipt Settings tab to check how it looks.



Note: This is not the receipt sent for their initial transaction during their signup. It's for recurring payments made after, starting from their second payment onwards. If you'd like to customize the receipt for the initial transaction, see the section above.
